Seven is an exploration of the intricate balance between sin and liberation. Delving into themes of guilt and desire, Seven juxtaposes provocative imagery with religious iconography, creating a visual and conceptual tension that critiques the oppressive weight of religious guilt.
Inspired by the détournement movement and the evocative visuals in Altered States: Ex Libris Julio Santo Domingo by Peter Watts, this project challenges societal constructs that label natural or expressive behaviors as morally corrupt.
Seven serves as both a critique and a reclamation—a bold transformation of guilt into an unapologetic assertion of freedom. Each spread integrates text drawn from personal reflections or religious doctrines, overlaid onto images from the original source. The clash between liberation and guilt prompts viewers to question how societal norms stigmatize natural human desires.
